Details

As another brain child of Elmer Keith, .44 Magnum ammo was developed in the 1950’s from fine tuning and lengthening the .44 Special cartridge. This was in the pursuit of a wildcat cartridge to deliver greater muzzle energy for either competitive shooting or capable of taking on larger, and even potentially dangerous game. Loaded in rifles, the caliber is popular for hunting, while in revolvers the hunting aspect is added to with personal defense as well as a dependable back up while hunting in the field.

Winchester’s Platinum Tip, jacketed hollow point bullets are capable of leaving the muzzle at 1250 feet per second with 867 foot pounds of energy. This is a performance cartridge for hunting and especially for personal defense on the streets or in the wilderness.

Winchester Repeating Ammunition continues to maintain a name of dependability and quality associated with one of the greatest names in US arms making. Manufacturing has been conducted in their Clayton, Missouri facility since World War II. For this cartridge the company uses nickel plated, boxer primed cases for reloading while the platinum tipped, hollow points provide maximum expansion without loss of mass guaranteeing maximum terminal ballistics for virtually instantaneous results in the field.
