Use of 5.56 ammo reaches far beyond just military and civil defense. When loaded with specialty ammunition, the cartridge is quite capable of being a small to medium hunting round and when match purposes are required, it can reach out further than assumed “traditional“ engagement distances for this small/medium rifle cartridge.

This 5.56x45 ammunition is loaded with Barnes’ 69 grain, open tip match bullet. That bullet also has an extended boat tail for increased stability out of slower twist (1:7) barrels. Their 69 grain bullet has a muzzle velocity of 2900 feet per second with 1288 foot pounds of energy making this an ideal cartridge for competitive match shooting and training. Note: these rounds are NOT intended for use in .223 Remington chambers.
