Details

For varmints and small game, competitive – and informal - target shooting, and civil defense, the .223 Remington cartridge is the most popular carbine round in the United States. This popularity is, no doubt, related to the ubiquity of the AR style of sporting and military style rifles. Endowed with low recoil (though substantial muzzle blast and noise) and an economy of price, the cartridge shows little sign of being wholesale replaced, at least for any time soon as all efforts thus far have failed. This 55 grain full metal jacketed bullet by Tula Arsenal has a muzzle velocity of 2953 feet per second with approximately 1300 foot pounds of energy. This is a range training and target shooting cartridge offered in a value pack of 100 rounds (the equivalent of five boxes).

Tula Arsenal is an established state munitions producer of first the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union and now the Russian Federation. Its production standards meet the rigorous expectations of the Russian military with an economy of price few other manufacturers can match. This of course means a compromise of using Berdan primed, non-reloadable, steel cases but the reliability of function and price makes up all the difference.
