Details

Aguila makes factory new 38 special ammo that's cheap in price but generally considered a bargain as it remains reliable for most training applications.

In 1929, Colt produced an up powdered version of the .38 Auto with the intention of meeting law enforcement requests for a round that could easily defeat automobile doors and the body armor then in production. Chambered in the 1911 Colt, it was very popular and was even rumored to be a favored caliber choice of John Dillinger. When the .357 magnum was introduced with better ballistic performances, the .38 Super became less popular. Today, however, it is still favored for a hot round in a semi automatic firearm for competitions. The cartridge is physically the same as the .38 Auto, and so manufacturers have begun adding the +P to the headstamps to further distinguish the round from the lower pressure round. This 130 grain full metal jacket round has a muzzle velocity of 1220 feet per second with 430 foot pounds of energy.

Aguila began ammunition manufacturing in Cuernavaca, Mexico in 1961 and is world famous for the high quality of their rimfire rounds. A reputation that is extended to the centerfire line thanks to the rigorous control they exercise over all of their component sourcing. Cases are made of brass and are boxer primed for additional value to reloaders.
