Details

The 9mm short, or .380 Automatic Colt Pistol cartridge was introduced in 1908 by John Moses Browning as a straight walled cartridge capable of being fired in direct blowback firearms. This made simple designs of firearms to be made with a caliber that was considered the bare minimum of defensive purposes for military and police usage. The .380 was considered the largest caliber that could be used in such firearms without requiring a heavy slide and/or spring that inhibited easy operation. The lead round nosed 95 grain bullet by Magtech has a muzzle velocity of 951 feet per second with 190 foot pounds of energy. This is an ideal round for target shooting and training. For defense, the lead round nose is not the best round available, but where hollow point or other “defensive” rounds are restricted, the lead offers some possibility of expansion within the target.

Magtech’s introduction in 1990 as a member of the CBC Group and as a range and training ammunition provider was welcomed in the US as the brand was quickly well known as a dependable and reliable product. Brass cases with boxer primers provide further value to reloaders.
