Details

Designed in 1947 and released for military use in 1951, the 9mm Makarov was designed to bridge the gap between the direct blowback reliability of the .380 ACP and the harder hitting power of the 9mm Luger. As such it met the very letter of the USSR in its military philosophy: cheap to make, reliable to use and hard hitting, especially for its size. It quickly replaced all other pistol calibers in the Warsaw Pact alliance, even the venerable 7.62x25, to insure no logistical issues. Now, after that alliance's dissolution, the Makarov is still enjoyed for its simplicity and reliability by government and civilian shooters alike. The 93 grain full metal jacket round has a muzzle velocity of 1000 feet per second and 200 foot pounds of energy. It is ideal for target range and training with your eastern bloc surplus sidearms.

While not a member of the Warsaw Pact, Serbian run PRVI is no stranger to the Makarov round. Even though they are a primary producer for the Serbian military their ammunition is not steel cased, but fully reloadable brass with boxer primers. This adds further value to the purchaser looking to stock up on this somewhat esoteric round in the US round.
