Details

Elmer Keith encouraged arms makers Remington and Smith & Wesson to start producing firearms capable of firing his newly designed cartridge based on a lengthened .44 Special case in the 1950's. By 1955, the .44 Magnum was introduced along with the first productions of what became the S&W Model 29. This cartridge was initially designed for use in revolvers but was quickly applied to use in carbines and rifles to devastating close range effect for hunting and target shooting. Hornady's 225 jacketed flex tip bullet has a muzzle velocity of over 1400 feet per second and hitting with just under 1000 foot pounds of energy. The jacketed bullet offers superior penetration while the flex tip creates hollow point expansion characteristics, makes these cartridges safe to fire in tube magazines and finally superior ballistics performance.

After World War II the Hornady family acquired surplus manufacturing machinery from the US government and in the decades that followed began producing premium quality hunting and defense rounds. This 20 round box is ideal for not only deer hunting but also for dangerous game such as boar and of course self defense. Brass cases are boxer primed and capable of being reloaded.
