Details

Developed in 1891 by the Italian military, the 6.5mm Carcano was among the first of the small bore smokeless powder rifle cartridges. It was used by Italian colonial and military forces up to the start of World War II when it was due to be replaced by a slightly larger .30 sized caliber, but due to logistical issues – it is inadvisable to change calibers in the middle of a conflict - was kept in service throughout the war. Perhaps the most famous appearance of the caliber was on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas when it was implicated in the assassination of JFK. The 139 grain full metal jacket soft point (FMJSP) round has a muzzle velocity of 2300 feet per second with at least 1800 foot pounds of energy.

Serbia is a country that is very proud of its military traditions, especially in dealing with its immediate neighbors. PRVI was founded in 1922 to produce ammunition for the then new nation of Yugoslavia, and added Partizan to the name after being used by resistance to the German occupation during World War II. Today PRVI produces ammunition for the Serbian military and commercial export and is a primary source of some of the more interesting calibers mil surplus shooters enjoy.
