Despite initial perception as being an over glorified .22, the .223 Remington has spent half a century earning the respect of sportsmen and military minds alike. Its efficiency and hyper velocity allow it to overcome a great many field obstacles, and further developments in bullet design have only furthered its already widespread use in hunting, target competitions and civil defense. In the case of the Silver Bear line, the cases are given a zinc coating to protect against rust. While these cases are not reloadable, they are generally priced at a point where shooters desirous of a plinking or training round are perfectly accepting of the short term application and results.
