Details

.308 ammunition was introduced in 1952, but was the product of almost three decades of exploration of a shorter cased, full sized rifle round for use in military self-loaders and short action manually operated actions. This was in part because, except for designs by John Browning and John Garand, the standard .30-06 had a case length that proved problematic in automatic firearms. The cartridge’s twin, the 7.62x51 NATO, was adopted for widespread use in 1954 and makes the dual calibers, which are safe to fire in each other’s chambers, one of the most prolific and trusted throughout the world.

This Black Hills’ .308 ammo is loaded with a 178 grain polymer tipped bullet has the capability to reach 2600 feet per second from the muzzle with 2671 foot pounds of energy. The poly tip offers impressive feeding and accuracy to the target and clean expansion upon entry to deliver optimal terminal ballistics on target. These rounds, are therefor, well suited for use in competitive target matches as well as for hunting.

The growing lines of modern calibers, as opposed to their well known single action calibers, from Black Hills is the choice of an increasing number of professional competitors. Their strict quality controls in component selection and manufacture make them a trusted manufacturer that deliver consistent results.
