Details

22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) ammo was introduced in 1959, two years before a firearm was commercially available to chamber it. Designed mostly for varmint hunting and target shooting, the cartridge’s energy at close range has made it more recently quite popular as a personal defense caliber because of its easy recoil. An assortment of modern firearms is now available in this caliber for protection either on the trail or on the streets. The soft point 40 grain bullet by Fiocchi has a muzzle velocity of 1910 feet per second with about 320 foot pounds of energy. The SP bullet is good for small game hunting as well as for personal defense where hollow point ammunition is prohibited: it is still capable of expanding and transferring its energy into the target.

Fiocchi ammunition began in Italy during the 1870s at the start of the global transition from black powder to smokeless. The company is well established in Italy with a long history of providing ammunition to Italy through both World Wars. Today, US shooters know Fiocchi for both its use of premium components: reloadable cases, as well as for the brand’s production of less common calibers.
