Details

The 1920’s saw the development of several spin off calibers based on the .30 Springfield case. One of them was .270 Winchester ammo. Introduced in 1925 for the Winchester Model 54, the .270 remained a caliber only for committed shooting enthusiasts despite being suitable for long range target shooting as well as mid to large game hunting. It was not until after World War II that the caliber experienced a surge in popularity, this may be in part due to the number of surplus military bolt action rifles made available after the war and the .270 was a suitable conversion caliber, more readily available than the original chamberings of so many bring backs. The 130 grain soft point bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 3060 feet per second with 2702 foot pounds of energy. This is a good choice bullet for deer and boar hunting.

Founded in the 1960’s Hornady has started and maintained a reputation for dependable accuracy and reliable performance both in the field and at the range. It is a name trusted by sportsman an law enforcement and the company is even the choice for components to handloaders and smaller ammunitions producers for their own products. Of course, boxer primed brass is reloadable, providing additional value to the customer.
