Details

Adopted in 1897 by the Japanese Army and shortly after in 1905 by the Imperial Navy, the 6.5x50mm Arisaka, or 6.5 Jap, cartridge saw considerable service over the next 50 years, including both sides of the Russo-Japanese War and as far away as the U.K. during World War I. It also saw service on both sides of the Second Sino-Japanese War and even into the Korean War on the side of some Chinese units. It is an easy shooting round with a flat trajectory and considerable penetrative properties.

This 6.5 Jap ammo is loaded with a 140 grain soft point bullet by Hornady. They report you should expect a muzzle velocity of 2225 feet per second with 1539 foot pounds of energy with a 32” barrel. This is a superb hunting round for use in a great many of the “sporterized” Arisaka actions that were developed after the war with all the rifles that were brought back or turned in.

Hornady Ammuntion is long recognized as a maker of premium sporting and performance cartridges, and is one of the few US makers of some of the more exotic calibers that are no longer in wide release. Therefore, in addition to the high quality bullet itself, the reloadable brass cases are of particular value to handloaders of this less frequently encountered chamber on the US commercial market.
