Details

In 1929 the Colt .38 Super was introduced as a higher pressured version of the .38 Automatic Colt Pistol cartridge. The goal was to develop a pistol cartridge with enough ballistic energy to penetrate car doors and defeat the body armor popular among the gangsters and bank robbers of the late 1920's and early 1930's. So successful was this that John Dillinger himself favored a 1911 chambered in .38 Super. To further differentiate the .38 Super from the dimensionally identical .38 ACP, it is headstamped "+P." In 1934, the introduction of the .357 Magnum by S&W encouraged many shooters to return to revolvers, but the .38 Super continued to gain converts and adoration from shooters looking for a high performance round out of a 1911 platform. The 130 grain full metal jacket round has a muzzle velocity of 1215 feet per second and over 420 foot pounds of energy. With considerably impressive penetration capabilities, it is intended for target and range shooting.

Magtech's presence in the American shooting sports world has been well established since the 1990s. Shooters appreciate the quality of components, including fully reloadable brass cases, as well as the economy of the product. The blue and white branding of Magtech has only become a growing presence at ranges, and it is not difficult to see why.
