Details

The 7.62x51 NATO cartridge was introduced in 1954, two years after its physically identical, yet slightly hotter, civilian equivalent: the .38 Winchester. Both bullets were designed with the intent of being more reliable in semi and full automatic rifles as well as with the intention of reducing the weight burden per rounds carried of the typical soldier. The primary incentive of the NATO cartridge, however, was to improve logistics of the military services within the treaty organization. While SAAMI reports indicate both cartridges are safe for the other’s chambers, some shooters may feel better consulting with the firearm’s manufacturer to be sure. The M80 Ball bullet by Magtech exits the muzzle at 2733 feet per second with 2437 foot pounds of energy. This is a service level cartridge suitable for range or target shooting as well as DMC/CMP style competitive matches.

As a munitions provider in the US, Magtech has steadily been building a reputation for quality and affordability. Since then the company has expanded its lines of ammunition to include defense, hunting and military style ammunition for standardized competitions. This 1000 round case is ideal for keeping your service rifle zeroed in for the next big match or for keeping on hand for any “JIC” scenario.
