Details

The 100 grain soft point bullet by PRVI exits the muzzle at 2969 feet per second with 1960+ foot pounds of energy. The SP bullet provides for expansion on contact, transferring all energy into the target, making it a very reliable hunting round for deer sized game.

Since 1928, PRVI has been the state manufacturer of ammunition for the country of Yugoslavia. Since that nation’s breakup, the company continues to provide munitions for the Serbian government: a country that demands consistent reliability of its cartridges. PRVI’s commercial line is made to the same exacting standards of performance while being provided with brass cased, boxer primed cases that can be reloaded, a common desire of shooters of this caliber.

Winchester introduced the .243 in 1955, three years after its parent case, the .308 Winchester. By necking down the 308 case to a +/- 6mm bullet, they were able to create a flat shooting cartridge that, depending on bullet weight, was capable of long range target and varmint hunting all the way up to white tail and the like. Consequently, it has become a very popular and versatile cartridge that, thanks also to a reduced recoil, is often adopted as an introductory deer rifle for hunters of small stature.
