Details

In 1930 Austria began rechambering their Model 1895 straight pull, Steyr-Mannlicher rifles from the 8x50mm R[immed] to be compatible with the cartridge adopted for use in their new light machineguns: the 8x56mm. The slightly lengthened case provided for a bit more pressure which was to offset the shortening of the rifles to carbine length in their arsenal refits. The round was quickly adopted by Hungary as well as Bulgaria and saw considerable use in the Balkans as well as the Eastern Front during World War II. It also proved to be quite a stout round when fired from the smaller standard issue rifle. The soft point, 208 grain soft point bullet by PRVI has a muzzle velocity of 2297 ft per sec with 2438 ft lbs of energy. This 500 round lot is perfect for keeping the old mil surplus rifle, or sporting arm in this caliber, earning its place in the gun room. Designed for deer hunting, it can also serve for target practice or military style competitions.

One of the features that sets Serbian munitions maker PRVI/PPU Partizan apart is the company’s offering of less common and even obscure calibers. What is more, these new manufactured, commercial grade cartridges are offered on boxer primed cases that are reloadable, keeping such firearms useful enough for another generation to enjoy.
