Details

The .22 Long Rifle was introduced in 1887 by Stevens Arms. Since then it has become the most prolific calibers in the world for purposes from training to hunting and even personal defense. Rimfire cartridges have the primer compound inserted into the rim by centrifugal force, the process does not always get the primer around the rim causing an occasional misfire, but repositioning of the case in the chamber for a “second strike” will set off the cartridge. So the .22 rimfire remains the most popular cartridge for virtually every firearms purpose, if not target. Remington’s lead hollow point, 36 grain bullet leaves the muzzle at 1280 ft per sec with about 131 ft lbs of energy. This is perfect for target shooting and dealing with varmints. As a personal defense round it is one of the better bullet types to have limited only by its caliber. The 5000 (five THOUSAND) round case is great for starting up the next generation in the responsibilities of the shooting sports or just keeping on hand for the zombie squirrel apocalypse.

The Remington Cyclone brand has been keeping rimfire plinkers happily making piles of spent brass for decades. Its economy of price and volume, along with the versatile applications of the bullet type answer virtually every need for a .22 and will do so for the foreseeable future. How long will it take you to burn through that many rounds, and are you up to the challenge?
