32-20 Winchester Ammo

32-20 WCF Ammo Info & History

Introduced in 1882 and initially loaded with 20 grains of black powder, the .32-20 Winchester is a lever-action cartridge ideal for taking small game and varmints. It is a relatively light-recoiling cartridge that can be used in both revolvers and rifles.

A typical round of .32-20 WCF ammo fires an 85-115 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of about 1,000 feet per second with some variation due to projectile weight. Long guns will produce considerably higher velocity than revolvers due to their increased barrel length.

The relatively low power of this cartridge lends itself well to hunting, as the projectile has enough power to kill most small game without causing excessive meat damage.
