7.5X54 French Ammo

7.5x54 French Ammo - Background & General Information

Introduced in 1924, the 7.5x54mm French is also known to the CIP as the 7.5x54 MAS after its designer, the Manufactre d'armes de Saint-Etienne, an arms production company owned by the French government. Similar in ballistic performance to the 7.62 NATO/.308 Winchester, it was first used with the MAS-36 bolt-action rifle and later saw service in the MAS-49 rifle and the M29 machine gun.

A typical round of 7.5x54mm French ammo fires a 139 grain full metal jacket bullet at a muzzle velocity of about 2,700 feet per second. This results in excellent long-range performance.

Prvi Partizan is the most prolific manufacturer of 7.5x54mm French ammo available in the US. Their products use non-corrosive primers and new brass, making them a great choice for target shooting and reloading.
