The .22 Savage High Power was Introduced in 1912 as a necked down 25-35 Winchester. For its time, it was a high velocity, small caliber round that delivered shocking stopping power. Also known as the Imp, the 5.6x52mm Rimmed cartridge was tried out on game from tigers, to cape buffalo to red stag in Scotland. Larger game really pushed the envelope of this cartridge and it was eventually pushed out of favor by other .22 centerfire calibers. The 70 grain soft point bullet has a muzzle velocity of 2860 feet of energy with 1290 foot pounds of energy. Today it is considered a vintage round though is still quite capable of dealing with varmint and small game. As the 5.6 round it is popular in older European sporting guns such as drillings and other combination guns.

Sellier & Bellot has a two century old reputation for providing above par performing ammunition for Europe’s sportsmen and militaries. Now distributed globally under the CBC Group umbrella, S&B ammunition is also prized for being one of the highest quality manufacturers of less common calibers such as this and doing so with quality boxer primed cases that are reloadable: a considerable benefit to shooters of such cartridges.
