Details

The .243 Winchester was introduced in 1955, three years after the parent case, the .308: It is simply the older cartridge case necked down to accept a smaller diameter bullet. The result was a longer longitudinal axis providing greater ballistic stability and deeper penetration. The caliber is also quite versatile depending on its bullet weight with anything over 90 grains being suitable for deer and under for varmints, small game and target shooting. It is a popular choice for new hunters as well as for those who have a recoil sensitivity: it is an easier shooting round than other popular “deer cartridges.” The Nosler tipped, 55 grain bullet by Federal has a muzzle velocity of 3850 feet per second with 1810 foot pounds of energy. It is a surprisingly zippy round ideal for varmint hunting on up to and including boar.

Federal Ammunition is a trusted name for sportsmen who rely in their first shot being their only shot while in the field. They have been doing so since the 1920s and are the industry standard in hunting cartridges. Loaded on nickel plated brass cases that are boxer primed, the Nosler tipped bullet offers superior accuracy and maximum expansion when it counts.
