Details

The traditional .45 Automatic Colt Pistol remains a popular choice not only for target shooting but also for self-defense. Introduced in 1908 and made famous by Colt’s 1911 service pistol, the .45 ACP is often seen as a “man stopper” its large caliber and slow velocity prevents it from over penetrating and depositing its energy into the target. In other words, it is famous for tending to stop when hitting a man. For home defense or concerns of hitting something or someone behind the target are paramount, the .45 remains a popular choice.

The 185 grain, solid copper deep penetrating expanding bullets loaded in this 45 ACP ammo packs a muzzle velocity and 1075 feet per second with 475 foot pounds of energy. This is one of the most aggressive loadings of a the “old and slow” pistol caliber.

Corbon was begun in the 1980s with the intention of providing law enforcement and CCW carriers a round that would not fail to expand when encountering intervening material. Common hollow points could get “gummed” up by leather or denim and instead of expanding would continue through as simple jacketed bullet. Corbon’s DPX is a solid copper round with no jacketing to get stripped away: it maintains full mass on penetration.
