Details

Born of the Great Patriotic War, or what the rest of the world calls World War II, the Soviets developed 7.62x39 ammunition in 1943 as medium cartridge: capable of rifle like performances at medium range and still manageable under rapid fire. With ballistics are similar to those of a .30-30 and have therefore become a popular deer hunting cartridge for use in a growing number of bolt action, sporting rifles to make the cartridge serviceable in areas that prohibit self-loading rifles for hunting. The 124 grain, hollow point bullet by Tula leaves the muzzle at 2330 ft per second with approximately 1500 ft lbs of energy. The HP round makes a decent hunting cartridge if nothing else is available and does a very good job for firearms training, target shooting and civil defense.

Tula cartridge works has provided ammunition to the Russian state from Tsars through the Soviets and to the modern Federation. They have also been making the 7.62x39 cartridge since its introduction. Loaded onto Berdan primed, non-corrosive steel cases for guaranteed dependability, these 1000 round cases are just what the commissar ordered to defend the people from whatever menace threatens. Or, they could just be used for target practice: it’s all good.
