Details

The utilization of the .22 Long Rifle cartridge remains consistent in the firearms world for two simple reasons: one is its economy – while it is no longer a penny a round it is still the cheapest firearms cartridge on the market. The other is its versatility: there is literally a .22lr bullet for almost any shooting activity out there: from typical plinking to hunting to self-defense and even to use with a suppressor. Aguila’s Sniper Subsonic is an example of one purpose specific round. Their 60 grain round nosed lead bullet has a muzzle velocity of 950 feet per second with 120 foot pounds of energy. These ballistics make it very suitable for use in suppressor equipped firearms but will not cycle semi-automatic actions. Bolt action, threaded barrel rifles on the other hand are the perfect choice for this cartridge. Applications where target shooting, pest control and small game hunting have noise ordnance restrictions: it is a slow, heavy bullet that hits hard.

Aguila ammunition out of Mexico has earned a place in sportsmen’s minds all over the world as a quality product. This is thanks in large part to the company’s insistence on quality control not only of finished products but also over raw materials.
