Details

The Russian .44 was born of an order from the Imperial ambassador to Smith & Wesson around 1870 for a quantity of Model No. 3 revolvers. However, the Russians held some reasonable doubts for the standard .44 American because its externally lubricated bullets could attract dirt and other fouling materials. They instead requested a new, internally lubricated cartridge which necessitated reducing the caliber, and with it the opening of the cylinder and bore. The .44 Russian went on to be the parent case of the .44 Special and ultimately the .44 Magnum. Black Hills’ 210 grain bullet has a muzzle velocity of 650 feet per second with almost 300 foot pounds of energy. This is an easy shooting round good for firing replicas on cowboy action shoots and even for the originals after they’ve been cleared for use by a competent gunsmith.

Black Hills Ammunition built its reputation on dependable shooting cowboy action shooting cartridges that are ideal for use in single action shooting competitions. When shooting against the clock, misfires are absolutely the worst thing to have happen and BHA delivers peace of mind with reliable performance. Reloadable cases add further value to reloaders of this less than frequently encountered caliber.
