Details

The development of the .357 Magnum in 1934 was the result of a pressing need for law enforcement officers to be able to counter the accelerated brazenness of gangsters and bank robbers who were perfectly willing to engage police in shootouts. Desperate for a round that could penetrate the body armor and improvised cover used by some of the more famous outlaws, the .357 was Smith & Wesson’s solution by stretching a .38 Special cartridge and installing a larger primer to achieve maximum burn. The result was a round embraced by law enforcement as well as sportsmen for its potency. The 158 grain jacketed hollow point bullet by Fiocchi has muzzle velocity of 1250 feet per second with 548 foot pounds of energy. This is ideal for personal defense from either a revolver or a carbine.

Fiocchi Munitions began manufacturing in 1876, right as self-contained cartridges were becoming the norm and just before smokeless powder made its debut. While well established in Italy, the brand has become well known in the US for quality cases that are reloadable - in this product the cases are nickel plated - well worth the consideration with this 500 round, half case lot.
