44 Special Ammo

First introduced in 1907, the .44 Special cartridge excels in both target and hunting roles. It is a bit less powerful (and less punishing to shoot) than its descendant, the .44 Magnum, and can be fired in revolvers chambered for that caliber. Cowboy action shooters sometimes use this round due to its lighter handling; while not historically accurate to the ""Wild West,"" it is definitely fun to shoot!

.44 Special ammo for target use fires heavy bullets in the 200-250 grain range, with low muzzle velocities of about 800 feet per second. Those looking to use their .44 Special firearms for sporting can choose from a variety of quality hollow point and soft point loads that deliver higher velocities and better expansion and penetration.
