Details

The .357 Magnum was born of a necessity for law enforcement to match or exceed the firepower that the gangsters and mobile bank robbers of the 1930’s. In 1934 Smith & Wesson offered a lengthened .38 Special case with larger primer for increased velocity and penetration. While many outlaws and officers were looking to new semiautomatic weapons and the calibers offered, the .357 Magnum’s strength lay in that it was a revolver round, the same weapon the majority of police officers were already trained in, thereby giving them a tactical advantage without the need for extensive retraining. The .357 is also a favored round for personal defense and hunting. The 125 jacketed hollow point bullet by Magtech has a muzzle velocity of 1378 feet per second and 527 foot pounds of energy. It is offered as a perfect personal defense round out of revolvers and carbines.

In 1990 Magtech presented itself to US shooters as an affordable range and training ammunition provider. In that time, their reliability and commercial success brought an increasingly wider range of specific purpose ammunition, especially towards defense. As with all Magtech products, cases are boxer primed for further value.
