Details

Developed from the 10mm Auto, .40 Smith & Wesson ammo has a reputation for being just as snappy in recoil and shooter abuse. However, the heavier rounds (180 grain) are not much more abusive than a comparably weighted .45 ACP. This gives it a harder hitting terminal ballistics without the full recoil effect of the caliber’s roots. Consequently, many shooters have gravitated to that particular caliber because it offers similar performance with an increased magazine capacity or a more ergonomic grip. While many law enforcement agencies have started moving away from the .40 as standard issue, it remains popular with individual officers and the recreational shooting population.

This 40 SW ammunition is loaded with a 180 grain jacketed hollow point bonded bullet from Magtech has a muzzle velocity of 991 feet per second with 393 foot pounds of energy. This is bullet meant for personal defense.

Magtech’s diversity in offered bullet types continues to grow with this, their bonded jacketed hollow point bullets. The bonding is a molecular merging of the copper jacketing and the lead core to insure retained mass and energy upon entry into the target. Non-bonded bullets can strip their jacketing and with it momentum. As always, Magtech presents their products with boxer primed, cases for additional shooting value.
