Details

Developed from the 7.63 Borchardt, the 7.63 Mauser cartridge was introduced in 1896 with the iconic C96 Mauser pistol, aka the “Broomhandle.” This is one of the earliest and perhaps most successful of the self-loading pistol calibers. The cartridge also served as the inspiration for the Soviet 7.62x25 Tokarev in 1930, though those rounds should not be fired in the older German pistols. The 7.63 Mauser, however, is safe to fire in both Soviet (and affiliates) as well as Mauser firearms. The bottle necked case offers increased pressures and resulting velocity and down range ballistics. PPU’s 85 grain full metal jacketed bullet has a muzzle velocity of 1509 feet per second with 560 foot pounds of energy. This is primarily a target and training round for use in Russian World War II surplus or the Broomhandle platform of firearms.

Serbian PRVI Partizan/PPU remains one of the most trusted small arms ammunition manufacturers in Europe. Started in 1928 as the producer of the Yugoslavian state, the Serbs still rely on PPU for their domestic and national security. Their commercial line for export is loaded in boxer primed, brass cases making them fully reloadable and ideal for keeping firearms of this caliber active at the range.
