Details

The FBI adopted .40 Smith & Wesson ammo in 1990 to address the ballistic shortcomings of the contemporary service 9mm Luger. Initially attracted to the 10mm Auto, the Feds found the recoil was too much for many agents to operate effectively, so the decision was made to make a "10 Short", which Federal and Smith & Wesson jointly designed into what is now the .40. There are several variations of this round that cover all shooting purposes from target shooting to self-defense. This 180 grain full metal jacket bullet has a muzzle velocity of around 990 feet per second with 392 foot pounds of energy. It is produced with an eye towards training and target shooting, though is perfectly suitable for competitions as well.

This product is a bulk case of 40 S&W ammo. When you buy it, you'll get 1,000 rounds total – divided up between 20 boxes, with each box containing 50 rounds.

Remington acquired Union Metallic Cartridge company in 1912 and today represents the company's economy, range and training ammunition. While economically minded, the UMC line of ammo is brass cased and boxer primed and is therefor completely reloadable for added value to .40 caliber shooters. The 1000 round case is perfect for keeping on hand for your next training course, or simply having on hand for the next trip to the range.
