Details

The .243 Winchester was introduced in 1955 as a necked down version of the .308 Winchester that was introduced three years before. The reduced caliber offered less recoil but a longer sectional density that engendered the round with good stability and penetration potential. Consequently it has become a popular entry level deer rifle as well as a caliber of choice for smaller statured hunters. Additionally, the cartridge offers wonderful versatility depending on bullet weights with those greater than 90 grains being suitable for deer hunting and lighter rounds being used for varmints and long-range target shooting.

The 80 grain soft point bullet by Remington has a muzzle velocity of 3350 feet per second with approximately 1900 foot pounds of energy behind it. This is ideal for use in hunting anything up to coyotes and the like as well as precise hits on game such as deer.

Remington Express ammunition has been a trusted name in American woods hunting for generations, offering reliable performance without breaking the bank for each shot. A name in US firearms and ammo since 1816, the centerfire line of products has always maintained substance behind its reputation for quality. For handloaders of this caliber, Remington brass remains a preferred choice for reloads of their own custom cartridges.
