7.65 Argentine Ammo

7.65 Argentine Ammo History & Common Uses

Developed in Germany for export with the Mauser Model 1889 rifle, 7.65 Argentine ammo is also known as 7.65x53 Arg and 7.65mm Belgian. These names reflect the cartridge's adoption by the militaries of Argentina and Belgium; however, many other nations including Spain, Turkey, and many of Argentina's neighbors in South America also used it.

A "typical" round of 7.65 Argentine ammo fires a 155-211 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of 2,100-2,700 feet per second. This wide range leads to a variety of ballistic profiles, which are generally comparable to those produced by .303 British loads. 7.65 Argentine cartridges can be had in both full metal jacket varieties for target shooting and soft point versions for hunting; this cartridges excels at taking deer and other midsize game.

Current manufacturers of 7.65 Argentine ammunition include Prvi Partizan, Hornady, and Norma.
