7mm-08 Rem Ammo

Although made by wildcatters since the 1950s, 7mm-08 ammo was first produced in 1980 by Remington. This versatile cartridge is based on a necked-down .308 Winchester casing and fires a 7mm (.284 cal) bullet. While not quite as powerful as its parent, 7mm-08 ammo produces flat-shooting trajectories that are less heavily affected by the wind due to the projectile's lower caliber. The reduced recoil of this cartridge is also a welcome benefit to many shooters!

With the right bullets, the 7mm-08 Remington excels against even larger targets like elk and black bears. It also performs well against midsize targets such as hogs and whitetail deer. A typical 7mm-08 load fires a medium weight 140-150 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of up to 2,800 feet per second.

Being known primarily as a hunting round, the 7mm-08 typically fires soft point or polymer tipped bullets that expand to bring down game without destroying excessive amounts of meat.
