Details

Winchester developed the .270 rifle round in 1923 and offered a rifle chambered in the caliber two years later. A necked down .30-03, the round was quickly promoted by big game hunters in the America’s as suitable for dealing with large deer, moose and elk out to and including 500 yards. It is also a popular choice for long range silhouette target shooting, especially since firearms makers have made rifles in bolt, lever and pump actions for this caliber. The 150 grain soft point bullet by Sellier & Bellot exits the muzzle at 2625 feet per second with 2296 foot pounds of energy. The soft point gives the round the best of both worlds: impressive aerodynamics and wound expansion after hitting, making this an ideal hunting round.

Sellier & Bellot’s reputation in the US is founded on the long history of quality and dependability that only a 200 year old company can deliver. Located in what is now the Czech Republic, S&B has made ammunition for numerous countries as well as for export in recent years. Brass cases with boxer primers add additional value to shooters who hand load their own custom cartridges for this popular hunting and target caliber.
