Details

Developed in 1857 by Smith & Wesson, the .22 Short cartridge is America’s first, self-contained, metallic cartridge and was intended as a personal defense round in the famous No. 1 Revolver. While decidedly anemic by modern standards, the cartridge is never the less a popular choice for collectors of many antique, and modern, firearms in that exclusive chamber or for use in .22 LR firearms that can fire the round as a discrete target shooting and varmint control cartridge. The 28 grain lead round nosed bullet is capable of leaving the muzzle at 1150 feet per second depending on barrel length, with 85 foot pounds. These 600 rounds are a good basis for maintaining skills as well as dealing with any varmints getting too close to the bird feeder (check your backstop!).

Vostock manufactured these rounds around four decades ago during the heyday of the Soviet Union and immediately put them into storage in the grand Russian tradition of stockpiling for a rainy day (or invasion or really for whatever: keep stockpiling, comrade!). Wax coating on the cartridges has successfully repelled moisture leaving these rounds ready to serve a new day with a solid reputation for consistent accuracy and dependable ignition.
