Details

Since its introduction in the 1880’s the versatility of the .22 Long Rifle is constantly being pushed by specific bullet designs. It is also the most popular for target shooting and skill development. The round’s true strength comes in its low cost (at least comparative to other rounds) and low report which means that not only is it economically viable to use a lot of it, it generally does not draw a lot of attention. Such is the intention behind these Winchester subsonic rounds. These 42 grain lead, hollow point bullets have a muzzle velocity of 1065 feet per second with just over 100 foot pounds of energy. Suitable for small pest removal or close range varmint hunting, out of a rifle they sound little louder than a strong clap. They may not cycle through all self-loading firearms, but are perfectly reliable out of manual action rifles and revolvers.

The Winchester name remains one of the most globally recognized, American firearms manufacturer, and nowhere is that association with quality maintained more than with their line of ammunition. Distributed still in partnership with the Olin Corporation, Winchester has successfully merged quality with quantity as their Clayton, Missouri plant has turned out billions of rimfire rounds over the years.
